Participatory site-specific performance, raised floor, stones
Galata Greek Primary School, May 27, 2017, 4-6 pm
Treshold is a participatory performance, a study of the body in relation to the ground and a body awareness exercise.
As one walks from the lowest to the highest point on the modified ground, a slight squeeze is felt in the stomach and the chest, due to the changing pressure. While coming down instead, at the exact same spot a slight relaxation is released. That spot is a personal "treshold". A treshold that is marked by the body and noticed only if one listens carefully to her/his own body. We leave a stone there on the floor.
Treshold invites you to come and find your own personal treshold and mark it with a stone. Stones accumulate and at the end of the performance we have a landscape that is formed by many personal tresholds of bodily projections.
This performance is created with inspiration from Ahmet Doğu İpek's ongoing show "23 Years, 187 Kg, 32°" and took place inside his installation.
