Nazlı Gürlek Hodder

BIO

Nazlı Gürlek Hodder is an artist, curator and ritual facilitator based in Istanbul. She is currently developing her own healing method offering ritual practices of freedom, agency, resistance and empowerment. This method merges the artistic knowledge that she has accumulated over many years as a practicing artist and curator with therapeutic knowledge that she has been mastering at her more recent art therapy, family constellation and the physiology of the nervous system trainings.

Her work as an artist and curator has been exhibited broadly nationally and internationally at Arter, Borusan Contemporary, Çanakkale and Mardin Biennials, SALT, Ujazdowski Castle Warsaw among others. Her solo exhibition “In The Body” featuring her visual artworks on embodiment took place at Evliyagil Dolapdere in 2019. Her live performance “ONE” took place at ANAMED Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations as part of “The Curious Case of Çatalhöyük” exhibition in 2017. Her recent curatorial projects include the 4th Mardin Biennial: Beyond Words (2018). She has been part of the “Systemic Constellation and Ancient Body Wisdom” course with Feride Gürsoy at Istanbul Healing Academy since 2022. Between 2017-20 she took part in the Life/Art Process® method workshops with Daria Halprin at the Tampa Institute in California, Introduction to Dance Therapy Master at Codarts Rotterdam and Skinner Releasing Technique workshops at Mimar Sinan University Modern Dance Department in Istanbul.

She holds a BA in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts Florence and an MA in Curating from Goldsmiths College London.
