Untitled (Visceral)

2018
Oil paint and linseed oil on paper 61 x 45 cm (without the frame)

The series of paintings Untitled (Visceral), first and foremost, celebrates the act of painting as a gesture of healing and resistance supporting the body to put itself back together. These paintings represent some obscure organs and in such a way intend to give voice to the body’s visceral existence in order for it to communicate its own truth. The work also intends to open up a space of questioning where, through the very viscerality of the embodiment experience, the constant dialectic and tension between body as an object and self-expression as resistance can be negotiated and re-created.

They are displayed against sunlight changing during the day and lending the works a living, glowing corporeality.
